Hybrid Training

Welcome all at the

Old Hybrid Athlete.
I try to give you an inside of the possibilities that you have to get fitter at an older age.

First real workout in months, due to serious foot problems and amputations. I have to use the SkiErg seated, for the next two weeks i am not allowed to put pressure on the right foot.

  • Seated basic SkiErg 1500 m.
  • Seated alternating SkiErg 500 m.
  • Seated 2 hands left, 2 hands right SkiErg 500 m.
  • Seated cross fit style SkiErg 1000 m.

Hybrid training combines all possible strenght and endurance training.

For my hybrid training i can’t run anymore, several toes and connecting bones are amputated. It’s no fun to loose body parts but it is what it is!

Four years ago I had third degree burnwounds at both feet, i was in a (way) too hot sauna and after 15 minutes both feet were cooked. Eyes, nose and vocal cords dammaged. Extra bad luck was that Covid kicked in in the Netherlands.

A three day vacation in a bungalow parc was a little bit longer. After 14 weeks in a Burnwound hospital in Groningen i returned to my house. My world was upside down. It learns me to focus on what I have and let go of the things in no longer can.
